SquatScroll Privacy Policy

Last Updated: November 22, 2025

1. Introduction

Welcome to SquatScroll. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our SquatScroll mobile application (the "App").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the terms of this Privacy Policy.

2. Who We Are

SquatScroll is a mobile application that helps users quit doomscrolling by requiring them to perform squats in order to earn screen time on social media and other applications.

Our contact information:

  • Email: contact@squatscroll.com

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information Collected Automatically

  • Exercise Data: Squat counts and exercise statistics performed through the App
  • Streak Information: Your consecutive days of app usage
  • App Blocking Preferences: List of applications you've selected to block
  • Usage Analytics: Information about how you interact with the App, collected through Mixpanel for improving user experience
  • Device Information: Basic device type, operating system, and app version for analytics and crash reporting

3.2 Body Movement Data and Exercise Detection

How We Use Body Movement Data

SquatScroll uses your device's camera and Google MediaPipe technology to detect squats through body movement tracking. This feature is essential to verify exercise completion and earn screen time.

Body Movement Data Collection and Storage

We do not collect, store, or retain any body movement data or camera footage. All body movement detection and video processing occurs entirely on your device. Specifically:

  • No camera data is retained: Body movement data is processed in real-time on your device and is immediately discarded after exercise detection. We do not retain any video footage, body landmarks, or biometric identifiers.
  • No video recordings are stored: The camera feed is processed locally and in real-time. No video recordings are created or stored on your device or our servers.
  • No body movement data is transmitted: Body movement data never leaves your device. Only the final squat count (a simple number) is synced if you choose to track your progress.

Why We Don't Store Body Movement Data

We have designed our app to prioritize your privacy. Body movement data is not stored because:

  • Exercise detection can be performed in real-time without storage
  • Storing camera or body tracking data is unnecessary for our app's functionality
  • We believe in data minimization and only collecting what is essential

Third-Party Sharing of Body Movement Data

We do not share body movement data or camera footage with any third parties. Since we don't collect or store this data, there is nothing to share. Our third-party service providers (Firebase, Mixpanel, RevenueCat) receive only aggregated exercise counts and usage statistics, never camera data or body movement information.

Your Control Over Camera Access

  • You can deny camera permissions at any time through your device settings
  • If camera access is denied, exercise verification features will not be available
  • Since no camera or body movement data is stored, there is no such data to delete

4. No Account Required

SquatScroll does not require you to create an account. All your data is stored locally on your device. This means:

  • We don't collect personal identification information like name, email, or phone number
  • Your exercise data and preferences remain on your device
  • If you uninstall the app, all local data is deleted

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the App's core functionality
  • To track and display your exercise statistics and streaks locally on your device
  • To manage your screen time budgets for selected apps
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve the App through Mixpanel analytics
  • To process in-app purchases through RevenueCat (if applicable)
  • To monitor app performance and fix crashes through Firebase

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We may share limited, non-personal information with:

6.1 Service Providers

  • Firebase: For app analytics and crash reporting
  • Mixpanel: For usage analytics to improve user experience
  • RevenueCat: For in-app purchase and subscription management

These service providers receive only anonymous or aggregated data necessary for their specific functions. They do not receive personally identifiable information.

6.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).

6.3 With Your Consent

We may share information with third parties when we have your consent to do so.

7. Data Retention

Since SquatScroll does not require an account and stores data locally on your device:

  • All data is retained only on your device
  • Uninstalling the app will delete all local data
  • We do not maintain copies of your personal exercise data on our servers

Anonymous analytics data shared with our service providers is retained according to their respective privacy policies.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your information. Since most data is stored locally on your device, you maintain direct control over your information's security through your device's security features.

9. Children's Privacy

SquatScroll is available to users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone, including children. Since the app does not require account creation and processes all sensitive data locally on the device, there is minimal privacy risk for users of any age.

Parents and guardians should supervise children's use of the app and can control camera permissions through device settings.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Since we don't collect or store personal data on our servers, traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) are not applicable in the usual sense. However:

  • You have full control over your local data through the app settings
  • You can delete all app data by uninstalling the app
  • You can manage camera permissions through your device settings
  • You can opt out of analytics by contacting us at contact@squatscroll.com

11. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We do not use cookies in our mobile application. Our third-party analytics providers (Mixpanel, Firebase) may use similar technologies to collect anonymous usage data.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
